THE ONE NOT DIAGNOSED | Dr. Eric Thomas Some of the most dangerous conditions are the ones we never recognize. We know when something around us is broken. We can identify problems in other people. We can blame someone for making us angry while God asks why their actions have that much control over what happens inside of us. That's why David's prayer wasn't, “God, search them.” It was: SEARCH ME. SHOW ME. CLEAN ME. God doesn't expose the heart simply to reveal what's wrong. He reveals it so He can transform it. A bitter heart eventually affects relationships. A prideful heart eventually rejects correction. An insecure heart eventually sabotages opportunities. But when God changes the root, different fruit begins to grow. This message is an invitation to stop asking God only to change our circumstances, habits, behavior, or results—and give Him permission to address the place those things are coming from. Because sometimes we're trying to fix the fruit while God is trying to heal the root.
